We have a date! On Saturday, June 27 we will have the official grand opening of the new skate plaza. The fence around the bowl/pool will be removed, the brick donors will be unveiled, the new artwork will be presented, and some crazy skateboarding is going to go down. We have a full day planned with live DJ’s, pro skateboard demos, and a free outdoor concert in the evening. Stay tuned as we will have a full list of the skaters and bands up on the site as they are announced.

The new TBSC website is currently under construction. The layout should be finished in a week. All content will hopefully be available by May. Thanks for your patience.
In January we had a very successful fundraiser show at Kilroy’s for the skate plaza. On February 14 we will be having a follow up show at the same venue. The purpose of the shows is to raise money for lighting at our new skate plaza. It’s also a good excuse to get together during the long winter months that Thunder Bay has to offer. These shows will be the first of many events leading up to the grand opening of the plaza this June.

I know this whole 807 area code has been waiting for this. We finally have a date. Saturday, November 1 at Noon there will be a small ceremony, followed by a kick ass day of skating. You know everyone has had these tricks and lines in their heads for months now, and it’s all going to go down at once. It’s going to be a crazy weekend!

It seems like an eternity that we have been working on this new skate park. Convincing an aging population to put a skateboard park right downtown at the waterfront was no easy task. But for all of our hard work, a new park has been built, and I hope that everyone will enjoy and respect the new plaza. I was onsite Tuesday evening and the park looks incredible. The bowl is an absolute masterpiece. Everything in the park looks to be well done so far, and all of the correct changes have been made. It looks like we will be able to skate the park by mid October.
